  4.         I charge $15 for a fully preregistered copy. You can save $5 by 
  5. providing me with a disk - this is the same as registering a copy you get 
  6. from a shareware distributor or BBS ($10). The advantage is that you save the 
  7. duplication fee or download fees, and you are dealing directly with the 
  8. author and avoiding any possibility of a virus.

  11.         I will never get rich with this program! My goal is to provide useful 
  12. and educational software at a very reasonable price.

  14.         You should know that shareware authors do not get paid by 
  15. distributors. If you paid someone for this program you were actually paying 
  16. for a service and a disk - NOT the PROGRAM that came on the disk.

  18.         I charge $15 for my programs. The $15 includes the $10 registration 
  19. fee and $5 for the disk, mailer, postage, and the hassle of sending my wife 
  20. to the post office (I physically can not go to the post office).

  23.          Shareware is a strange business.  If you manage to find a copy of 
  24. one of my programs you can register it for $10.  By registering the program 
  25. you are paying for the right to use the program and also, in the case of my 
  26. programs, you will be eligible for an update to the latest for free. Whenever 
  27. you want your first update you just send me a disk.  I put the latest edition 
  28. on your disk and send it back in the next mail.  After the first update you 
  29. can continue to update, as long as I keep making improvements, a $5 handling 
  30. fee as specified above.

  33.          If you don't want to bother with finding a mailer and a disk you 
  34. just add $5 and I'll supply the disk, mailer, and postage!

  36.         I have created other programs and will send registered users a flyer 
  37. showing what they are. Again, if you supply the disk, the programs only cost 
  38. $10. By dealing directly with the author you avoid any problems with 
  39. middlemen.

  44. The remainder of this file is essentially what I have been saying for years.

  48. System requirements:Graphics board (CGA/EGA) and lots of memory.

  50. This program was written and compiled using Microsoft QUICK Basic
  51. ver 3.00 under DOS 5.0 as an exercise in what can be done with BASIC.

  54. It was originally written on a ARC 286 with 40meg hard disk, 1meg memory, and 
  55. EGA. It has been tested on a Columbia MPC-IV and an AMIGA with Bridge-Card.

  57. I guarantee nothing!!  This project was started many years ago to see 
  58. what could be done in BASIC (the only language I know much about). I 
  59. soon found that basic is just too slow to handle the data required. 
  60. Out of the hundreds of people who have downloaded the program around      
  61. the world a few have provided financial encouragement and suggestions 
  62. which are implemented in version 2.x. The only thingI haven't done is 
  63. provided the program without my database.( I worked too  hard to have 
  64. that cut out). Most of the Database is avialble on COMPUSERVE as my file 
  65. WORLDDB.ARC in Lib 7 of IBMAPP forum.

  67. The list of capitals is as accurate as I can get from a standard atlas.  Some 
  68. errors have been generated by eyeball interpolation and weariness. If you 
  69. don't like something don't stew about it, send me a letter of complaint!!  I 
  70. will correct as much as possible.

  72. If I feel good and get some complaints I can handle I will put an update
  73. on COMPUSERVE at some time in the future. My updates are a function of 
  74. how my MS is affecting me, changes in the WORLD situation, and how much 
  75. support users have supplied ($$$).

  78. is the year.

  88. I would like to thank those who have sent comments (and especially those who 
  89. sent money) based on earlier versions of WORLD. Many of the changes are a 
  90. result of suggestions from users. Some suggestions were not practical. My 
  91. Data Base is too crude.

  93. No the Data points were not generated by THE FORCE I strained my eyeballs
  94. to create it. It is not available as a separate file and not available for 
  95. commercial use.
